Jonathon Wise

I want to add my thanks to Sallie, Judy, and Norene. Our "birthday party" was great fun and it was really nice to see so many of our classmates. I am always a little nervous before these events, but as soon as I arrive I feel like I'm back in High School. Sally, Judy, and Norene, you did a wonderful job planning this event and I appeciate the effort it must have taken. I look forward to the next time we can all get together. Torchy, thanks for posting the pictures.

Sorry Herb...I put an extra "H" up here.  It was easier saying this then taking the time to change it and do it all over again with a new picture.  Time is all I have but I want to make good use of my time like all my teachers at Lomond taught me to do.  For those reading this it is OK to use this message link to say anything to the whole class.   It can be anything you want to get off your chest or just anything the class might find interesting.  Almost everything is interesting now about our past. How interested were your kids when you tried to explain your Shaker Life ? You might realize something that you would like to say that maybe you never had a chance to say as a young teen. Then you were probaby trying to figure out LIFE after Shaker Heights.

Torchy and all classmates;

Your invitation to comment led me to how much has changed since we were at Shaker - especialy in the realm of technology.  A summer job I had after my freshman year at college at a Shaker bank says it all - 4 college women sitting around a conference table going through ALL the mortgage files filling out paper programming info. from each file that was later used to input info into the NEW bank computer. Whew!  It took ALL summer for the 4 of us.  I sometimes wonder if we got the info correct like the current interest rate on each file.  I now understand how different we were from our parents generation just as we are from our children and grandchildren.  They think we are soooo dumb and backwards. I still prefer a wall calendar and paper records.  Always fearful that I will press a button on my computer and it will explode or lose all sorts of info.  yadda, yadda....I think they are missing out on certain things - even a simple walk w/out holding a phone in your hand constantly.  I'll leave it at that.

Dear Carol and class:  There are 36 class graduates from 1965  who live in california.

I think I know those two girls sitting in the background.

Reginal getogethers can really be meaningful. This way  you really get to talk to a person

more in depth.

Tony Dow recently passed away.   Do you remember Cain Park in Cleveland Heights when it was summer?  It was Thriving back in the days when we were in high school.    Tony spent the whole summer here and for those active in summer stock at Cain Park they got know him. We talk about that in my interview with him. He made many friends with the group of actors our age.  You might be surprised to know he wanted to marry a girl from from Beachwood. Her father put a stop to that. He also rubbed elbows and dated a girl from our class as well.
Below is my intervieew with Tony and he is a chapter in my book.  Click on this link below. There might be a 30 second commercial at the start.

Hi Torchy,

I have your book and remember reading the Tony Dow chapter a while back. I just listened to your interview with Tony (I think for the first time). It was very interesting to hear about all the things he did since he was on the TV show. So often child stars remain in the business but "behind the scenes". The Cleveland Cain Park connection was interesting. My wife and I lived in Cleveland Heights for 40 years and raised our family there. We  were within walking distance to Cain Park. I always enjoy an interview when the interviewer is genuinely interested in the person being interviewed. You obviously are and your entusiasim rubs off on the listener. Your Baby Boomer talk radio was such a neat idea.

Dear Classmates, Since Carol Friedman Bargar and I were unable to attend the Cleveland "75" year old reunion recently, and we share a birthday a day apart in October, we had our own fun Mini Reunion in Florida this past March. Here's our photo entry. Sending Love to all our Shaker '65 Classmates, Susi

(Daryl changed her first name to Susan afterher high school years.  Here is a note I recieved from her husband Tom Dolan.)

Susan passed away after a prolonged series of illnesses on October 19, one week before what would have been her 76th birthday. After Shaker, received an Associates degree from U of Cincinnati in 1968. Married Tom Dolan on June 15, 1975, moved to the Bay Area in 1978. Two children, daughter Stacy (1981) and son Scott (1984). A great Mom to both. Loved traveling to national parks and overseas (and Cleveland). Best food memories - Aurora spaghetti sauce, Hough's fudge bars, corned beef sandwiches at Solomon's and hot fudge sundaes at Draeger's and Boukair's. A fun time at the 50th reunion in 2015. RIP

Greetings Fellow Classmates:

It's been awhile since I last posted in this “Message Forum.”

Please notice that many of us are changing our addresses as we approach the age of down sizing. As for me the only down sizing I have incurred is in my spine. I use to be a solid 5 feet 7 inches. I am now a slightly weaker person at 5 feet 4 inches.

You can make changes in your profile, or I can do it for you if your 10 year old grandchild is not available. You can email me at BabyBoomersTalkRadio@gmail.com .  If an email can not work you can call me on your cell.

This “Message Forum” is still the best place for our class to

communicate with each other. For many of us of our childhood memories are still intact and this site can make them even more illuminate.

This “Message Forum” is private and posted here for only our classmates to see and read.

Most likely we are done with big reunions for many reasons. But I like the idea of mini reunions where you can really talk to a person.

Moving right along.............

Torchy, you have always done a phenomenal job putting on the Class reunions. You put in a lot of hard work and personal time doing these. Everyone is so great full for your talent putting those together! It is understandable that mini reunions make more sense. Kudos for you being you.

Hugs,

Judy Waller

THank you so much Judy for your kind words.  Let's do lunch sometime.  Maybe a few other Shakerites can join us.  Now that the pendemic is finnaly over we have some options.

Torchy that sounds like a great plan.

Now that the pendemic is over maybe we can do this at a food cort.  A couple of good places would be Beachwood Mall or at the end of the Van Aken Rapid in Shaker. That way you can have lunch or just a drink or nothing or a huge lunch with a desert or just desert, This way nobody is left out with special conditions.   If only one person shows up that is ok with me. Or if everyone within NE Ohio from class shows up that is also fine with me.  This time of the year in the Cleveland area is also good for this extra ciriculmn activity.  Now let's all hold hands and chant without getting political.

I am interested in a Cleveland informal lunch. Thanks for all you do, Torchy!  BTW, I was chosen for a solo photography exhibition. The opening reception, a public event, is at the Solon (OH) Center for the Arts, Saturday, March 25, 4;00-6:00 PM. 100% of my share of photography sales will be donated to Maltz Museum, where I have been a docent since 2008.
