In between graduating from the University of Michigan and settling in to work at a Maine Audubon nature center for 13 years, I had an assortment of jobs in four different states. The most unusual was working in a lab that developed artificial flavors from naturally-occurring substances. However, time spent as a full-time mom had its own rewards, and I am finding the freedom of being retired delightful.
