I knew Jon in high school, but not very well. Someone within his extended family owned Rogoff's Men's Shop at Van Aken Shopping Center which was almost next door to my parent's Shop, Marne' House of Linens. Our Mom's (his step mom) knew each other quite well and Jon & I would run into each from time to time while at our family's shops, sometimes while getting cookies or a cheese danish at Hough Bakery. Many years after high school, Jon moved to New York City, and we lived only a couple of blocks away from each other. We became friends and it seemed as if we'd known each other all our lives...we almost had! We walked around The Village together and shared dinners in each other's apartments. We'd talk about our years in Shaker, people we knew in common, our careers and life in general. We kept in touch for and then......he just kind of disappeared.  I later heard that he moved (back?) to Los Angeles.  It was Torchy who contacted me upon Jon's passing and I was stunned. Such a bright yet enigmatic man and..... Another friend from high school gone much too soon. R.I.P., Jon.
