I am beyond shocked about Marlene's death! I have known her since Moreland School Days and have such fond memories. A more positive, generous and kind person could not be found. What a sad end to such a vibrant personality!

I am shocked and saddened to learn of Marlene's tragic death.  Her big heart was always there to help everyone.  I never saw her without tons of energy and a big smile.  She was taken from us way too soon and shall always remain in our hearts and memory.  May God bring healing and comfort to her family.

My parents had been friends with the Mesnicks with Marlene and I were little.   When  I looked her up in Atlanta, several years ago, she embraced me with her warmth and enthusiasm as if we saw each other every week.  She was such a big-heart, good person.

My condolences to her family at this terrible time. She had a big smile and was lots of fun. Still processing the whole sad story. I just can't wrap my brain around it. We all get to this age and this is not how we imagine any of us will go.

My heart goes out to Marlene's family. To lose a loved one in such a violent way is devastating. I am so glad I saw her at our 50th Reunion -- we danced and laughed. Such a warm loving person. She touched so many lives. RIP, Marlene. You were a beautiful light.

Torchy... I knew her only by her popularity. Still, I remember her as very kind. Our ranks are thinning at an increasing rate. I so wish that it were otherwise. How well we knew each other becomes irrelevant… the fact that we all grew up together becomes seemingly critical… as if we can now look back to each other as distant relatives… with greater appreciation… and emotional content.

C.Chris Niederhauser--thank you for your comment--very well said.  When a tragedy like this happens, it makes us more aware of how much we really are connected.  Whether you knew Marlene well or just casually,  it's a shock to anyone who heard about her tragic demise.  And you are correct when you say "we are all like distant relatives."  I re-connected with a few of our classmates on Facebook and it's been a joy to hear and see what's been happening with them. (Especially this past year) I really didn't know you at Shaker but I always enjoy your posts to other classmates.  Regards to you.  Marlene Mesnick-rest in peace and May your memory be a blessing to all who knew you.

Chris Niederhauser, your comments are spot on.  I look at every classmate as a treasure, whether they were a friend or someone I merely passed in the hallway.  Thank you for your thoughts.
