After our common Shaker experiences, Terry and I “each took the road less traveled by”.  We remained friends who cared for each other even though our paths greatly diverged.

He may have been the first from Shaker to attend the University of Texas.  Later he owned retail record stores and then got involved in the sports betting scene in Las Vegas.    After college summers at home, our face to face contacts were few but the care for one another did not wane.  I have a collection of very colorful and well written letters from him in earlier days and thoughtful emails more recently.

When we were together in Shaker, we went to numerous Indians’ games, sitting in the upper deck and having great conversations about sports and so much more.  When we were cruising around or sitting in the car at Manners, I always told him he had the fastest fingers east of the Mississippi as he would endlessly push the buttons on the radio searching for a “better song” on CKLW, WIXY 1260, WHK, WKYC or perhaps checking in on the Tribe broadcast.  If the weather conditions were right, we might even pick up Harry Caray and Jack Buck describing the Cardinals’ game from KMOX 1120 AM in St. Louis.

A typical funny line from Terry as he joined me at a quiet, peaceful cabin on a beautiful lake in New Hampshire – “where’s the action”?  Yes, he loved the action, but he loved his Shaker friends and we will miss him.

Terry was special to me.  We reconnected years after Shaker, and we shared a lot about our lives, the differences and what was the same.  I was touched by his kind and generous heart, and will miss those moments.
